put people first

My parents were farmers who lost their land to corporate agriculture. They came to Cleveland to work in factories and build a better life. I joined them. But even while we all worked, we still lost everything, including our home. We did not have wealth or powerful connections. We had each other.

I know what it means to struggle, and to need help and have to ask for it. I also know what it means when that help is there.

That is why I chose to dedicate my life to public service. So I could repay the kindness shown to me and my family growing up.

For 23 years, I served across six federal agencies, including the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, FEMA, CMS, the FDA, HHS, and NIH. I enforced civil rights protections for children in Ohio’s public schools, led public health outreach efforts across the country, and defended the right to receive life-saving care for Medicare and Medicaid patients. When corporate health care companies tried to cut off dialysis patients from life-saving treatment, I stepped in and stopped it.

I have seen firsthand what happens when corporations put profit ahead of people. I have also seen what government can do when it works the way it is supposed to: protecting people, upholding rights, and making life better.

What happened to my family 30 years ago is still happening to families across this district. Health care costs are crushing people. Housing is out of reach. Working families are doing everything right and still falling behind in an economy that rewards wealth and punishes work.

I am running for Congress because Ohio’s 7th District deserves someone in Washington who understands and who has lived that struggle, has spent a career fighting for others, and will never stop fighting for them.

what i’ll fight for for

medicare for all

I worked inside the healthcare system for years. I’ve seen how it fails people — and I’ve personally stopped corporate healthcare companies from cutting off patients who needed care to survive. No family should go broke because somebody got sick. I’ll fight for Medicare for All. Read more

living wages and Affordability

The people who do the work should be able to afford to live. Right now, too many families across this district are doing everything right and still falling behind. Read more

democracy & constitutional accountability

Our Constitution draws a clear line. It gives Congress—not the President—the power to declare war, control the nation’s spending, and levy taxes. When any President crosses that line and seizes power that isn't theirs, they threaten the very foundation of our republic. This isn't about party; it's about preventing one person from gaining absolute control. The Constitution demands that Congress act as a check on power. It's time for them to do their job. Read more

immigration & Enforcement Reform

Americans want safe streets and calm towns, not armed occupation and fear. We want a system that processes people fairly, holds actual criminals accountable through the justice system, and stops treating every neighborhood like a war zone. Read more

get corporate money out of politics

I’ve seen from the inside what the expectation of access does to decision-making. Candidates can start to get corporate money out of our politics by refusing this money. That’s what I have committed to do. Read more

fight for working families

The policies on this page only matter if working families can actually hold it together day to day. Right now, the United States is one of the only developed nations without a national paid family leave program: the cost of childcare in Ohio rivals college tuition. Read more

Jobs & our Economic Future

They’re programming your job out of existence. Giant corporations are using AI to replace everyone from customer service reps to truck drivers—and based on current federal laws, they don’t owe you a thing. No severance. No retraining. Just a toast to higher stock prices on Wall Street.

Fighting for federal AI regulation to protect workers is a critical step one. Step two is building the next generation of American jobs right here in OH-7. We have the skilled workforce and the infrastructure to lead America in green manufacturing—building solar panels, EV parts, and advanced batteries. These are good-paying, union-strong jobs that can’t be outsourced or coded away. It is both better for the planet and a survival plan for our community during a turbulent economic transition. reproductive freedom

I support restoring the federal right to abortion access and government involvement in personal healthcare decisions. I will oppose any federal abortion ban or restriction. I support protecting the full range of reproductive care — contraception, miscarriage treatment, prenatal care, and preventive care. These decisions belong to women and their doctors, not to politicians in Congress. Read more

expand social security and medicaid

For generations, we've held a sacred promise: if you work hard and pay in, the Social Security you've earned will be there for you. If you fall on hard times, Medicaid will be your lifeline. But some in Washington see that promise as just a line item on a spreadsheet, ready for the chopping block. They want to cut, cap, and privatize the benefits you've spent a lifetime earning. I see it differently. We need to expand and strengthen these supports. Read more

keep our promises to veterans

I believe that this country is in no position to say no to veterans. Not after what we’ve asked of them and what they sacrifice. Ohio’s 7th is home to thousands of veterans. The promises we make to the men and women who serve: healthcare, mental health support, housing, benefits, separation services, and dignified treatment are not optional. They are obligations. farmers & rural communities

I’m the only candidate in this race who comes from farming. Family farmers in this district are drowning. Consolidation means a handful of corporations control the market and set the prices. Trade wars and tariffs have blown up export markets overnight, and it’s the farmer who are absorbing this loss: not the corporations, and not the politicians who approved them. I will fight to keep family farms front and center in our economic policies. Read more

Help Laura Reach Voters Before the May 5th Primary

We need your help.

I've spent 23 years fighting for people across federal agencies. I got purged for refusing to back down. Now I'm running for Congress — but I can only win if voters hear this story before May 5th.

Every dollar goes directly to reaching voters: doors knocked, events attended, communities visited. This campaign runs on people, not corporate PACs.

This Campaign Belongs to You

There’s no corporate PAC behind this campaign. There’s us. Every door knocked, every conversation, every neighbor who hears about this race — that’s how a campaign like this wins.

We need people who can knock doors, make phone calls, host house parties, give rides to the polls, and just talk to their neighbors about what’s at stake. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never volunteered on a campaign before.
